Common name: 'The Tropical Asian Fire Ant.'
This is an easy species to keep which breeds very quickly - but you have to be wary of their sting.
The workers are an attractive red-orange coloration and are 2-3 mm in length. There is also a major form of worker which has a larger head and is 4-5 mm in size.
They are opportunistic foragers and will take a wide range of foods including seeds, sugary secretions and insects.
Note: Starting new colonies from only a queen is difficult and not recomended for beginners.
