Pair of alates.
This is a small species of termite that feeds on dead branches and leaf litter. The workers are 2-3 mm in size and the soldiers have long sickle shaped mandibles.
This species builds carton type nests which can be up to 30-45 cm across. The nests can be found attached to old wooden stumps on the ground or on the trunks of large mature trees.
The new alates are only 5 mm in size but once the colony becomes established the female will expand up to 2 cm.
We stock several different species of termites but this is probably the easiest one to keep in captivity.
