Carebara diversa.

£100.00 (Sold out)

Common name: 'The Asian Army Ant.'
This species used to be known as Pheidologeton diversus.
This is a fascinating species that is famous for its hunting method of sending out thousands of workers on 'swarm trails' - which attack and consume anything edible that they find.
It is also well known for the large size differential between the small workers and very large super majors.
The only species with hunting habits similar to the famous 'Army Ants' that can be successfully kept in captivity.
Warning: Young colonies with just a few workers are very difficult to establish. It is also important to ensure that any colonies you purchase have a good brood present as colonies with little or no brood will fail to establish.
